Eve Lees was raised in a newspaper publishing family. She began
producing and writing for newspapers at the age of 14.
After studying journalism in college, Eve became editor
of a community newspaper. At the same time she pursued her other interests of oil painting and health & fitness research.
She has specialized in health writing for over 20 years. Currently, her health column is published weekly in several
B.C. and Alberta newspapers and she writes regularly for three magazines.
Eve completed university and college courses on anatomy/physiology, kinesiology, nutrition
and herbology. She was among the first generation of certified aerobic dance instructors in the early 1980's and is one of
the "pioneers" of the personal training industry; beginning her career long before it became a recognized profession. She
is a certified Personal Trainer, a certified Nutrition & Wellness Specialist, and a certified Nordic
Walking Instructor. Eve competed in bodybuilding competitions, owned a health food store, and managed two fitness
centres.
A self-taught artist, Eve began drawing as a child, painting as a teenager, and more recently began to specialize
as a portrait artist and cartoonist. She often provides exercise llustrations to accompany her exercise articles.
In 1995, Eve formed "Effective Visual Enterprises"
to combine her journalism, fitness and art careers.
